When I look at the painting by my friend and artist Wawi, I pause, I find rest: there is a kind of fluidity of life, like the olive tree, which is the inspiration behind the painting. I feel the movement of the painter, of life, and the pace of life... This life, from birth to death, that disappears as quickly as Wawi’s way of painting. A kind of urgency and elegance!

This piece has truly transformed my space, much like how a beautiful Moroccan carpet ties a room together. It doesn’t just fill the room, it brings warmth, balance, and a sense of peace. My space feels both homely and professional now, a perfect reflection of the environment I want to create. What I love most is how it catches the light, revealing subtle layers and colors that I hadn’t noticed before. Every time I look at it, there’s something new, something deeper. It’s as if the artwork itself is alive, offering different moods depending on the moment. It’s also become a conversation starter. People are drawn to it immediately, asking about its meaning and the artist behind it. For those who know you, it feels like a part of your spirit is in the room, creating a sense of safety and connection. It’s more than just art on the wall, it’s a source of calm and inspiration, helping everyone feel more at ease in the space. This piece has made my space a sanctuary for cohabitation, where people can feel comfortable, inspired, and at peace.

I attended Wawi's calligraphy workshop. I didn’t know what to expect, but I was curious to try. As a medical student interested in psychiatry, I’ve learned how drawing can help release emotions and break out of the freeze state. However, I never took it seriously because I wasn’t good at drawing or painting and didn’t feel I had any talent in that area. When I arrived at the workshop, I was going through a difficult time with a foggy mind. I didn’t know what to draw—my mind was blank. Then Wawi told me, "It doesn’t have to be anything specific; you can just draw lines." So, I picked up the brush and started drawing lines, circles, and writing words in Arabic. Suddenly, I felt emotions I hadn’t processed begin to surface. I accessed suppressed feelings, broke the freeze state, and finally cried after months of feeling unable to release the pain burning inside me. I became completely absorbed in my own world, wanting to keep painting and let all my inner conflicts spill onto the paper. It was a surprising and transformative experience, giving me relief and showing me that even small steps—like drawing, even when you think you can’t—can have a profound impact on emotional processing. I’m deeply grateful for this experience.
